Herbologies Kurzeme Expedition – The Herbologies/Foraging Networks programme of events, focused in Helsinki (Finland) and Kurzeme region of Latvia, explores the cultural traditions and knowledge of herbs, edible and medicinal plants, within the contemporary context of online networks, open information-sharing, biological and hydroponic technologies.
Following the Pixelache Festival of Electronic Arts and Subcultures in Helsinki, which hosted the first part of the programme in March 2010, the second part takes place in Latvia, around midsummer. Interdisciplinary Art Group SERDE, based in Aizpute town, Kurzeme region, will be building upon their experience of engaging cultural heritage subjects as an arts organisation by leading an international group on fieldwork to learn about the cultural heritage related to the use of wild plants.

no2somos+ viene desarrollando procesos educativos en espacios no convencionales —“espacios pretexto”—, fortaleciendo la autonomía investigativa y su relación con el contexto desde el “hágalo usted mismo – hágalo con los demás”. De esta manera, se han consolidado proyectos que relacionan arte, tecnologías y comunidades en diferentes zonas del país.
Para este proceso vemos importante propiciar espacios colaborativos donde confluyen dinámicas del pensar cotidiano y su relación con las redes sociales, lo político, lo social, el alfabetismo tecnológico, las TICs, el arte, los medios de comunicación masiva, la baja tecnología, la ciencia de barrio, la educación popular y los laboratorios de creación casera.
El laboratorio nómada medial no2somos+ construye con las comunidades procesos de apropiación mediática en torno a la investigación en comunidad, análisis de medios de comunicación, recuperación de historias locales, cartografías sonoras - visuales, video creación, experimentación sonora, interactividad y la consolidación del Laboratorio Observatorio de Medios y Mediaciones de Comunicación Barrial.
no2somos+ ve importante socializar las creaciones y hallazgos encontrados en cada proceso dentro de la comunidad (video-foro, charlas), además rotarlos en los canales de distribución local (medios alternativos) como radios comunitarias, televisión comunitaria, prensa local e internet. Esta dinámica permite reconocer, resignificar y visibilizar las creaciones in situ, resultado del continuo ejercicio con el acto creativo-reflexivo de los laboratorios, dando sentido a la apropiación mediática y tecnológica como posibilidad de generar espacios de encuentro con las comunidades.
Las acciones que desarrollamos están basadas en trabajos de creación, investigación y construcción colectiva de conocimiento a través de salidas de campo, laboratorios colaborativos que tomen en cuenta los intereses temáticos de las y los jóvenes en torno a lo social, político, cultural y académico en diálogo con las necesidades de la comunidad.
