Abstract

TheCityFarm - Prototype of a real green and sustainable business

Nowadays the discussion about green laws and policies, sustainable businesses and frameworks is in the media nearly every week. We see this as an approach in the right direction to force peoples attention on the very important topic of environmental protection and the sustainable use of resources.

In our point of view the discussion is kept to much on the political level and everybody is demanding the legislative powers to set the correct frameworks. But we think that a framework is useless if it is not filled with reality. And this filling can only be done in business and by businessmen convinces of green and sustainable ideas.

In our group work we tried to depict a concrete example for a company which is green and sustainable in all its actions. It is taking care for people as well as for the planet, but is a the same time able to generate moderate profits.

Although we recognized that it is really hard to act in a green way in every single business action and that for companies working in certain industries it is simply impossible, we want to give thought-provoking impulses for businessmen how to restructure their existing businesses.
