A conventional glossary contains and alphabetical list of terms, abbreviations, and phrases that may be unfamiliar to readers, together with definitions or other explanations. This is not a conventional glossary. It contains every term or important phrase that one may encounter in the Sugar User Interface, and occasional hints. It does not contain every term that appears in the various programming environments in Sugar, mainly Etoys Smalltalk, Scratch, Terminal, and Pippy Python. If there is no definition or other explanation here, that means that you should have no trouble discovering where the term or phrase appears, and you should either have no trouble discovering its meaning, or you should find appropriate hints for the Undiscoverable somewhere in this guide.
For example, the icons in the Home view tell you their names (Browse, Write, Paint, Chat, and so on), and you can find out a lot about most of them by running them, even with no further explanation.
There are terms and phrases used in this guide that do not appear literally in the Sugar UI. This glossary will give you a hint on where in the guide to find out more. This is particularly true for names of views, including Home View, List View, Network View, and Friend View.
There are terms and phrases appearing in some hidden corner of some part of Sugar, where you are not likely to stumble on them. The hints for these will be broader, and in some cases will simply be conventional definitions. This is true for some aspects of wireless networking, for example.
We encourage you do make whatever notes you need here. You may also leave some terms just as they are if you need no reminder of their meaning and use.
We also welcome discoveries of things we should have mentioned but missed.
